We had a great three-night stay in this stylish, renovated two-level unit. It feels private and quiet, though the station is only a three-minute walk away, with plenty of cafes and places to eat nearby. Takayama’s main sights are within walking distance, and the place is so inviting you’ll want to linger. There are two bedrooms and two toilets, with plenty of room for five adults. The kitchen has the essentials and a large dining table, and we made a tasty Hida Wagyu sukiyaki with groceries from a nearby shop. The spacious bath area includes a dry sauna, hinoki tub, separate cold plunge, and shower. Drinks in the fridge for after the sauna were on the house. Machiya Inn & Hotels also runs the neighboring Yukinoha unit. They were helpful over messages, answering our questions and sharing local suggestions. An amazing stay!

It’s ideally located in town near the station, and the layout is very well done. The place feels brand new and is beautifully built with lots of wood. It’s the most amazing place we’ve stayed, and I highly recommend it.

There’s a train station and convenience store close by, so the location is great. The rooms are spacious and have a lovely Japanese feel. There’s a sauna too, which makes this a good choice for sauna lovers.

The location was fantastic. We could walk to the Miyagawa Morning Market in the mornings, and there were lots of good restaurants nearby, including a Hida soba noodle shop right in front of the house and Chitose’s yakisoba, a Takayama soul food. We checked in at the counter about a two-minute walk from Takayama Station, then reached our townhouse in just ten seconds. The open atrium had a huge plasterwork artwork and made the place feel like a museum. It was still chilly in April, but the underfloor heating and sauna kept us comfortable.
