The staff were lovely and flexible enough to arrange a private onsen slot for us after we’d been hiking around Lake ashi. The hotel is right by gora station, which made it a great base for exploring town. You can book a private onsen for 700 yen, and there are full bathrooms in the rooms. The room was comfortable but a bit dated. The bed was hard as a rock, like sleeping on a blanket thrown over a wooden floor. Breakfast was okay, nothing special. There’s also a very small TV in the room, so this may not suit you if watching TV is how you like to unwind before bed.

Breakfast and dinner were good, and dinner had self-service all-you-can-drink alcohol. Gora station is only about a two-minute walk, handy for taking the cable car.

The dinner buffet had no vegetarian options at all, which was disappointing. Breakfast was wonderful, with good vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian choices. The rooms were clean and decent, and fine for our family with two kids. The children loved the Onsen and wanted to stay another day just to use it again. The hotel is centrally located, about two minutes from the train and bus stations.

Lawson and Daily Yamazaki convenience stores are nearby. I’d recommend Lawson personally, since it’s easy to walk to even though it’s 1 km from the hotel. The hotel is super nice and very clean. The staff are kind and friendly, always smiling. Breakfast and dinner are generous and delicious, and the location is great, right in front of the station so there’s no need to walk far. I highly recommend it ❤️

The private onsen costs ¥700 for 45 minutes, so a couple can use it together with a young child. There’s also the regular onsen. The hotel is just in front of Gora station. Our room was a little old and small, but everything worked. Breakfast and dinner were buffet-style, with Japanese and Western dishes. Nothing fancy, but we were quite happy with it since it seems not many affordable hotels here offer buffet meals.
