For our family of four, Hotel Green Plaza Hakone was an incredible stay. The basement onsen was a top-tier way to unwind after a day out, and the staff were kind and helpful throughout. We also really enjoyed the meal package: the food was outstanding and made for a convenient, high-quality part of the trip. Our traditional Japanese room was simply but beautifully done, and gave our two teenagers a great cultural experience. The location is unbeatable too. My wife and I took the nearby ropeway and saw stunning views of Mount Fuji and the sulfur pits. A must-do if you're staying here. Highly recommended for families!

The room was cold, so bring warm sleepwear, turn the heater on as soon as you arrive, and try not to open the window. There was a humidifier in the room too. I came with no real expectations or prior knowledge and was impressed by just about everything. The lobby also offers complimentary teas, and the barley and green tea are worth trying. Getting around was easy because the bus stop and station are close. If you're carrying a lot, takkyubin could help, since the walk to the station can be a bit difficult. The bus stop, though, is very near. We checked in right away on arrival and went to dinner. The buffet was fantastic, with lots of options for locals and foreign visitors alike. I was getting a little tired of Japanese food, so it was nice to have a short break from it. After dinner, we used the onsen. It was clean and well maintained, with everything provided, including combs, shampoo, lotions, face wash, moisturizers, and even hair tonic. The hairdryer made me unexpectedly happy. I had no privacy concerns. The arrangement reminded me of Turkish baths or thermal hotels, except that everyone is naked here. There are indoor and outdoor pools, and the outdoor one has a lovely view of Mount Fuji. This would be a nice stop in the middle of a Japan trip to rest and recharge. Thank you for everything.

After the long trip from Tokyo to Odawara and then Hakone, my group and I felt relaxed as soon as we arrived. Dinner was delicious, with excellent western choices alongside Japanese dishes like sukiyaki and udon. Some staff speak English, so it felt foreigner-friendly, though I'd suggest knowing a little Japanese since it's a rural area. I chose a double western room, which also came with a traditional futon that you set up yourself. The beds were comfortable, and the room was spacious compared with many Tokyo hotels. We were given beautiful, clean Yukata to wear around the hotel and onsen. Both baths were amazing, one indoors and one outdoors with a beautiful daytime view of Mt Fuji. I only stayed one night and wished it had been longer. If I return to Japan, I'll come back to Hotel Green Plaza, maybe for the Mt. Fuji room.

The room was spacious, spotless, and beautifully designed. We were surprised with local cookies for our honeymoon, such a thoughtful gesture. They also provide a yukata, a light Japanese robe, to wear around the hotel, which was a lovely cultural experience. Everything from the location and service to the room was amazing, easily the best hotel we've ever stayed at. We booked a Mount Fuji view room for around 500 to 700 CAD per night. It was expensive, but completely worth it, especially with breakfast and dinner included. Worth every dollar, and we'd come back 100 percent!

The onsen felt traditional, and we really enjoyed it. I'm vegetarian and appreciated having quite a few options at both the breakfast and dinner buffets. Staff were super helpful, and the stay was relaxing. The bathrooms were clean and perfectly fine, though a bit dated, which wasn't a problem. We had a Japanese-style room for two with plenty of space and a lovely view of Mt Fuji. The surroundings are tranquil and beautiful, and if you're lucky, you may get a view of Fuji. Getting here was straightforward: bus J from Odawara station took about 40 minutes longer than the expected 50 because of traffic by the ropeway around noon, though the views were spectacular. It's an easy five-minute walk from the bus stop. On departure, the hotel shuttle dropped us at Minami Onsenso, where we caught the T bus back to Odawara train station, around 50 minutes.
