Hotel Hanakomichi

We found the hotel much better than expected, and it was easy to locate from kintetsu Nara station. Its location is great, close to Nara park and the shops. Our room was clean and had enough space for three single beds. We had a very good stay.

It’s about a ten minute walk to Nara Park, and with all the shops and restaurants right outside, the location worked really well for our day at the park. The room was clean and comfortable, if a little dated. Having both a bed and a couch gave us room to stretch out. My friend and I had an easy check-in. You’ll need your passport so they can copy it. The hotel is tucked down a side street just off Kintetsu Nara Station, and it’s easy to miss. To reach the elevator, go inside and walk past a clothing shop. The front desk guy spoke a little English. Japanese would make things quicker, but we managed fine. They offered us free dinner at the hotel restaurant, which was tea and soup rather than a full meal. It was a nice gesture. We stayed chatting after the soup, which seemed to confuse the staff since we were the only ones there when we arrived at 7pm. Probably best to eat and head out.

The Japanese - Western room was neat and clean, and we especially liked the woodwork and the faint, pleasant smell of wood. This is a small, charming hotel with friendly staff. It has its own character, and it’s one of the few modern hotels that does.

We stayed in a Japanese room with four people, which was comfortable enough if you want that kind of experience. The bathroom was compact and efficient, with excellent water pressure and hot water. The location is hard to beat: the station, park, restaurants, and mall are all easy to reach on foot.
