Posada Suimei

A fantastic location and great for a one-night stay, though the rooms were rather small. The onsen was fantastic and the hotel staff were attentive, so I can't complain.

We used the large public bath in the main building at night and its open-air bath in the morning. The changing rooms, washing areas, and tubs were all clean, so we could relax and enjoy them. Check-in and check-out are handled at the front desk in the main building across the street. The female staff were very kind and polite, which put us at ease. It's also conveniently located about a five-minute walk from Hakone-Yumoto Station, the Hakone Tozan bus stop, restaurants, convenience stores, and the shopping area.

The room smelled awful, and Sumei Inn put me in a smoking room even though my reservation never said anything about that. When I asked them to take responsibility, they told me to contact Booking.com because they had no non-smoking room. They wouldn’t give me their names so I could file a complaint, and the only fix they offered was an air freshener. I booked for January 28th to 29th. I absolutely do not recommend staying here.

There’s no bedside power outlet, and the room has a very small toilet. You also won’t find a microwave, coin laundry, or disposable slippers. On the plus side, the inn is close to the station and guests can use the baths in the main building.
