We loved the two nights we spent here, especially the room, which was far beyond what we expected. It was spacious, clean, and even better with a private onsen. The meals were excellent too. Each dish had lovely flavours, and the kaiseki dinner was delicious and filling. Breakfast was just as good, with fresh ingredients and careful preparation and service. The inn is peaceful and well kept, a welcome break from the busy cities. We enjoyed the well-maintained public onsens. Staff were polite and attentive, and did their best to make us comfortable. We don’t speak much Japanese, but they made a real effort to communicate, and it was reassuring to feel so well looked after. It’s a little removed from the busier tourist areas. Getting to Lake Ashinoko takes at least one or two bus rides and around an hour or so, but we didn’t mind. It felt like part of the adventure. We truly loved our stay and can’t wait to return. Thank you to everyone at Senkyoro for making it memorable.

The meals were a highlight for us, beautifully detailed and exquisite, with flavors that were exciting from a European point of view. We booked a Japanese room for three days with breakfast and dinner, and the courses changed daily. I highly recommend including meals in your reservation, though the food package has to be booked in advance and cannot be added on site. It’s not the cheapest hotel, but we felt the experience was incredible value. If three days feels too expensive, I’d still suggest staying at least one night, since our first day was the most remarkable. The staff at Senkyoro were incredibly polite and kind. The clean, comfortable onsen wasn’t crowded. I found the water a bit hot, though I may be sensitive to it. We had no problems, but if you’re not used to onsens, I’d avoid staying in too long. The water is incredible, my skin has never felt so smooth. This was more than a hotel stay, it was an experience. Thanks to the whole Senkyoro team. Hope to see you soon! Thank you very much。

The room was spacious, and I think it could fit up to six people. The staff were wonderful, and the food was great. They were accommodating when guests had preferences. It’s an unforgettable stay in a traditional room with an onsen. If English is a concern, communication is friendly. Just save room for dinner, there’s a lot of food.

The private Rock onsen was especially charming. This hotel is right in the woods, and our room had a forest view. We stayed in room 409, which was okay, but a roof at the corner got in the way of the view. I think 410 might be better. Of the roughly 18 places we visited in Japan, this was the only one without an air purifier, and you could definitely feel the difference. Staff could have been nicer. Their service didn’t measure up to what we had elsewhere in Japan.

The staff were very friendly, taking hospitality to another level even by Japanese standards. The ryokan was clean, tidy, spacious, and clearly well maintained. Our room was massive and spotless, and the onsens were a real highlight, clean and in great condition. They were also nearly empty, probably because it was the low season. Senkyoro sits in a very quiet spot on a small hill in Sengokuhara. We took a bus from Hakone-Yumoto, the same route T bus goes on to Odawara. It was convenient enough, although the bus can get very crowded. We stayed three nights with our one-year-old and would definitely recommend it.
