The friendly feel at Dear Hostel made it easy to meet people. I made great friends, shared lovely moments, and came away with memories I’ll always treasure. Johnny and his wife are kind, welcoming hosts who really go out of their way to help guests feel at home. Linh deserves a mention too, the eggs she makes for breakfast are the best, and they made my mornings. I had a wonderful stay and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. If you want somewhere warm and personal with good energy in Hakuba, Dear Hostel is a great choice. I’ll definitely be back! 🌨️🏔️💙

Johnny was great to chat with and shared lots of useful information during my stay. The hostel also has a shuttle to and from the JR station, free breakfast, and a nice hot shower. A free shuttle stop is only about 3 minutes away, with rides to happo one, iwatake, goryu, and winter47. There are plenty of good restaurants around Echoland too, about a 10-minute walk. Overall, I had a great stay.

Johnny, the owner, is great, and the location works really well for getting lifts up and down the mountain. There’s food close by too. He sells ski passes at a discount, but bring cash and a physical card, since he only takes cash for the passes.

The rooms were really clean and comfortable, and Johnny, the owner, was very accommodating. He helped us with a free pickup and drop-off. A really great place to stay, highly recommend.

Jonny’s a cool guy, and it’s a good spot close to the buses. Nice place to meet people too.
