Being only about a five-minute walk from the Hakuba Goryu lifts made mornings easy, and after snowboarding we came back to a warm, tidy place. The room was small but cozy, with a clean bathroom and good heating for winter. We usually choose larger, higher-end hotels, so staying at a bed-and-breakfast was a welcome change. The husband-and-wife hosts made it feel personal and relaxed, and they clearly care about the guests and their home. We signed up for breakfast, and paid extra for dinners that were delicious and homemade. They also handled our gluten-free and vegetarian requests thoughtfully. The hosts mentioned that summer brings hiking and mountain biking nearby, so Hakuba sounds appealing outside winter too. We had a lovely week and would gladly return to Pension Barnard.

We were a family of four, with a 15-year-old girl and an 18-year-old boy, here for a snowboarding holiday. The hosts were so kind and helpful that we felt like family, and Tako even took care of getting us and our gear where we needed to go. Pension Bonnard is handy for Escal Plaza, the lifts and Gondola, and nearby shops and restaurants. Our room was better than the photos suggested, and the bathrooms and other facilities were practical and well designed. The drying room was clean and roomy. The boys stayed on longer, and the black cat service let them send their boards and gear to their next stay. We loved every breakfast and dinner. The meals were carefully prepared and served, and all were delicious. I'd absolutely recommend staying here for a truly memorable Japan experience.

Breakfast was both convenient and really tasty, so I'd say it's worth getting. The owners were lovely and even drove us to the bus stop when we checked out. Goryu's slopes are also very close by.

The spot is well placed, close to the slopes but removed from the noisy, busy areas. Inside, it feels cozy, neat, and well cared for, with good amenities and even a piano. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely come back ❤️

Our trip to Hakuba became a really memorable one thanks to this place. The owner was welcoming and helpful, and I'd happily recommend staying here. We plan to return for our next snowboarding trip.
