Super Hotel Hamamatsu

It’s a quiet, convenient spot with a convenience store right next door. The public bath is on the small side.

We booked a double room for my wife and me, but the receptionist wouldn’t let us check in with our three-year-old child, saying company policy didn’t allow it. At 9 pm, the receptionist couldn’t speak English and relied entirely on a translator app that wasn’t much help. We spent an hour trying to sort it out and still couldn’t check in. We were completely disappointed by this ridiculous policy. I don’t recommend it, especially if you’re traveling with a minor.

I’m always impressed by hotels in Japan. This one is very small but useful, simple, and has what I need. Check-in and checkout were easy, and it was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was healthy. I didn’t get to try the onsen because I always got back to the hotel late. Lawson is close by, right across from the hotel.

The staff made this stay special. Yasuo Otani at reception and a woman whose name I didn’t catch were unbelievably kind and generous. They gave us little gifts and made us feel welcome, and Yasuo even handwrote a thank-you letter and translated it into English. After traveling all over Japan and meeting many lovely people, their thoughtfulness still stood out. The hotel itself was spotless, the location is surrounded by restaurants and amenities, and the room had up-to-date touches like a multi-connection phone charger. The clean, relaxing onsen stays open overnight until 9 am and wasn’t usually busy. Food was fresh and delicious, and the dining area felt clean and new. The price was very reasonable for what you get. My only complaint is that it deserves another star, it’s a four-star hotel to me. Thanks, Yasuo and Super Hotel, for a great memory.
