Hotel Koyo Annex

The carpets were filthy, stained all over, and the ventilation was broken in every room we tried. Our group had four rooms on two floors, all with the same air vent problem. The windows wouldn't open, and the air conditioning only blew hot air, so we had to choose between turning the room into a boiler or sitting with no air moving at all. We ended up sleeping with the door open and the chain on to get some air from the hallway. I've stayed in plenty of hotels in Japan, and every other one was many times better. This was by far the worst hotel I've ever been in, anywhere. Even the public bath cost 800 Yen, the only time I've had to pay for one at a Japanese hotel where guests' baths were otherwise free. Too bad zero stars isn't an option. Avoid it. This is nowhere near the standard of anything Japanese.
