Toyoko Inn Tsuruga Ekimae

It's close to the JR station, which makes the location convenient. The rooms are a bit cramped, but they get the job done, and the amenities are standard. There's coin laundry on site, plus a 24-hour place across the street with heavy-duty machines. It isn't anything special, but you get what you pay for.

Our Shinkansen was cancelled, so my friend and I ended up in Tsuruga and booked this hotel that same day. We paid just $96 CAD, breakfast included, and it turned out to be a really pleasant surprise. It went beyond what we expected. Thanks for having us.

The hotel is great value for a business stay: my room was large for the price, breakfast is included, and everything is always spotless. The staff couldn't do enough for me. There are two washers and dryers downstairs, 200 yen each, which I used. Tsuruga station is a few minutes' walk away, with restaurants all around and a shopping center two minutes away. Reception held my luggage until check-in, and you can ask them for a humidifier, toothbrush, and pyjamas. The bed felt a bit hard by Western standards, though business hotels are generally like that. APA has softer beds, but costs more 😀

The location is great, right by the station, with lots of restaurants nearby, and the price was very good. My small room was efficient, clean, and had a bathroom. Breakfast was fine, with bread, coffee, and rice. The walls were so thin I could hear someone upstairs unzipping a luggage bag, or possibly a body bag.
