Nakaya B&B

This was my second visit, and it was lovely to see the woman in charge again. She's very attentive to guests and genuinely helpful. The apartment is great, though watch your head as you move between rooms, as in traditional houses. You probably can't match how kind your host is here, but do your best to be kind too.

A very friendly host gave us useful advice. The whole place is a traditional Japanese house, with four western single beds and a traditional Japanese dining room upstairs.

Nakaya B&B is good value for money, especially since accommodation on Itsukujima (Miyajima island) is limited. Staying overnight also lets you see the Floating Gate without thousands of tourists getting into your photos. We liked the traditional room alongside the western beds, and the location was great. Rie-san was a wonderful host. We changed our arrival time twice after requesting an early check-in, and she was happy to work with us. Her local knowledge, very good English, and help booking a restaurant made the stay better than we'd expected.

We felt right at home thanks to the owner's warmth and kindness, and her advice helped us make the most of the island. Our child was delighted to find toys and even English-language books, which made this a great place for families. The holiday home was wonderful. Its beautiful traditional Japanese tatami room gave the stay a special feel, and the location was ideal, in a quiet area about a five-minute walk from Itsukushima shrine. We hope we can visit Nakaya house again.
