Trust Maison Kitagawa

The house is clean and spacious, with plenty of parking and a fantastic sunrise view. It’s an old building, and the sofa and BBQ gear could use cleaning, but the beds, towels, and other things were good. There are lots of onsen nearby, plus a couple of convenience stores within 1 km.

The room has a kitchen for cooking, and Kuroneiwa bath is an easy walk away. From Kitagawa in Izu, head downhill and look out for the steps. They’re not far down the way. Check-in is self-service, and we were met by a strong smell of smoke when we entered.

I spent about a week here in late April, after booking through Airbnb. It cost much less than other hotels. The sound of the waves comes through the thin walls even with the windows shut. I liked it, though I can see it bothering some people. Walking from the station is possible, but the route has lots of slopes and stairs, so luggage would make it difficult. There are few people and streetlights at night, so arriving by car is probably easier. There are a few small shops nearby and a Lawson convenience store, but walking there isn’t a good idea because there are no sidewalks and the road is busy with cars.
