Hiroshima Grand Intelligent Hotel

We were able to explore the city for a few hours after checkout without worrying about our bags, since they kept our luggage for us. The service was great, and so was the location. Our room was solid for the price. We were right by the street, but it was quiet overall.

The rooms are a little small, but I would recommend the place. It's an older hotel with some character, and it's in a great spot near the station.

The constant sound of water in the pipes and drains was my main problem. It would go on for up to five minutes at a time, even in the middle of the night or early morning, and woke me up. Otherwise, I had a good sized room with a comfortable bed, an interesting layout, and plenty of equipment. The decor is a bit confusing, but it works and has an old worldly feel. The location is excellent, with lots of shops, stores and restaurants within walking distance. Everyone was friendly: we got a warm greeting when we arrived and whenever we came out of the elevators, and the dining room staff were helpful, polite and efficient.

Breakfast was amazing, with both Western options, though no cereal, and Japanese dishes. This place surprised me in a good, or at least neutral, way: after a little over a week in Japan, walking into a hotel decorated with old European armor, paintings and furnishings felt unexpected, but fun and quirky. The staff were very accommodating, and the rooms were fairly spacious. I appreciated that this was the only hotel with streaming services on its TVs.
