Hiroshima Kokusai Hotel

For the price, the service was only what you'd expect from a business hotel. The room details and number of beds weren't clearly shown on the booking page, so call the hotel and check carefully. You also can't adjust the air conditioning temperature in your room as you like.

The location near Hiroshima Peace Park, shops, and restaurants is the one good thing. The entrance is stairs only, so it isn't accessible with a stroller or wheelchair, and the staff seemed indifferent. The rooms were dirty, with damaged furniture that looked 50 years old and stains on the carpet, bed, couch, and linens. You get what you pay for. Don't stay here.

I'm very sad to hear the hotel has closed and may be demolished and rebuilt. It represents a time in Japanese history when people were searching for hope, and really feels like part of Hiroshima's heritage. I'm grateful I got the chance to stay here. The staff were kind and helpful, and I'll remember it as a wonderful stay. Thank you.

The location is excellent, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are very small and tired, and the bathroom is tiny. Breakfast was underwhelming, though the beautiful carving at the entrance to the breakfast room is worth a look. Otherwise, nothing out of the ordinary for a Japanese city hotel.
