Hiroshima Washington Hotel

The single-pane windows were flimsy and let in drafts, so the room got cold. I had respiratory issues during my stay, and it was worse on the higher floors. Hiroshima’s best food is in season in winter, but with insulation this poor, I can’t see a reason to choose this hotel then. The shower stream was so weak it left me more tired instead of easing my travel fatigue. I’ve stayed at over 20 hotels around Japan and haven’t seen another place that seemed to restrict water just to save money. I don’t think it was a building-wide pressure problem, since running the bath and shower together didn’t reduce the pressure. That makes me think the shower itself is being throttled. In my photos, the shower on the left and tub on the right have a night-and-day difference in flow.

The rooms are a typical size for a Japanese hotel, but the layout made better use of the space than at other places we stayed, so it felt much better. The hotel is an easy walk from the Peace Park and museum, and the location is perfect for a short stay in Hiroshima. The desk staff were kind and very helpful. I had a great stay.

I was here for a business trip to Hiroshima. There are lots of amenities nearby, the room was a decent size with useful facilities, and the service was great.

The Semi Double Room was quite compact, and the bed felt a bit narrow for two. Still, the amenities were thoughtfully chosen. We especially liked the traditional-style bathroom and the complimentary sheet masks and foot patches after a day walking around. The staff were friendly and helpful, as you’d expect in Japan. The location made it easy to explore Hiroshima. We were right in the city center near Hondori Shopping Street, malls, bars, and restaurants. The nearest tram stop was about a 10-minute walk, with direct access to the central railway station and other parts of the city. Despite the small room, we had a good stay and appreciated the convenient location and service.
