What was missing most for me was a social atmosphere. There could be five or more guests sitting around on their phones with little to do, and a couple of activities or some light interaction from the staff would have helped. The place itself had a lot going for it. It was inexpensive and felt like good value, with clean rooms, comfortable beds, several private showers, multiple TVs, and a cozy lounge. The kitchen was nice too, though a little cramped. Staff were friendly when I spoke with them, but it wasn't clear who worked there, and despite seeing quite a few staff members, there were no guest activities. Guesthouse Santiago was a fun stay, mostly thanks to coincidences rather than anything the staff did in particular. It's not right beside public transit, but it's not far away either. There are plenty of popular sights, restaurants, and shops nearby, and Hiroshima is easy to explore on foot.

I stayed five nights, from 7-12/11/2025. The beds have individual curtains, so you get a level of privacy a bit like a capsule hotel. You do have to make your own bed, but the place was generally clean and I didn't feel uncomfortable during my stay. I could use the common area before check-in and on the day I checked out, and there were amenities like coffee machines and a microwave. It worked well for a relaxing trip.

The bed was cozy, and the large common area had a kitchen and dining space. It seemed like a good place to meet people from different countries. I thought they should give guests information about parking. For the price, it was great value.

I arrived early, but they kindly let me leave my bag and take a shower. The hostel was clean throughout, with a comfortable bed and a common area that was sufficient. It's centrally located and easy to get to.

The whole building had a lovely energy, and the beds were comfortable. Santiago Guesthouse Hiroshima is in a great spot in the heart of Hiroshima, close to everything but far enough from the main strip that you don't hear its noise. The staff were lovely too, and the common area had a great vibe. I'd recommend it to anyone wanting a quality, affordable place here.
