The reception staff were helpful, even with the language gap, using translation technology to explain things. You can check in at a machine or at the desk, as I did. The single room was more spacious and cheaper than the orange chain hotel around the corner. The rate also included a breakfast buffet, which you could take away, and I liked the little sachet amenities. My only issue was the distance from the station when carrying a big suitcase.

The breakfast spread was delicious, and everything in the room worked. Beds and blankets were comfortable, and the bathroom had a bathtub and Toto cleaning system. It's an easy walk from Hiroshima Station and close to Mazda Stadium. Comfortable, convenient, and well equipped.

We reserved a non-smoking queen room of 16m2, but were put in a smoking room. When we asked to switch, they moved us to a 12m2 twin and charged us for the change. Couldn't have been worse.

Breakfast was a real plus, with a mix of Western and Eastern food, and we loved it. My wife, son, and I stayed two nights and enjoyed the place. The room wasn't large, but it was enough. So much was automated, which we found interesting and got used to. The service areas on certain floors for hot water, tea, ice, and coffee were a great idea. The beds and bathroom were super clean, as you'd expect in Japan. It's a wonderful location, about a 6-7 minute walk from Shinkansen Hiroshima station. We'd stayed in ryokans before and wanted to try a budget hotel, and Toyoka Inn went beyond what we expected. Thank you very much.
