Tourist Hotel Hitachi

This was my second time staying here. The staff and support are very good, and it’s a quiet hotel that I love. Most of the guests seem to be Japanese. Breakfast feels like the hotel’s signature, and it’s been the same since my visit three years ago.

When companies or factories hold events, places to stay in this industrial area can fill up quickly. There aren’t many accommodations along the Ibaraki coast north of Mito, around Hitachi, Takahagi, and Isohara, so this hotel is a dependable option in those busy spells. Its prices have risen quite a bit, perhaps with accommodation costs generally going up lately, but even at busy times they remain within reasonable limits. Breakfast is included. It’s not high quality, but they do what they can. The hotel is only just within walking distance of Hitachi Station, if it counts as walking distance at all. The rooms are old, and the bedding wasn’t great. It gave me back pain. There’s no large public bath, just a small modular one. Still, these days I suppose it’s at a level where you can’t complain.

I use this place often because it’s usually available, and check-in and checkout are smooth. It’s an older hotel, but I find it clean, and I’ve never had any itching. There’s Wi-Fi and free breakfast, plus lots of nearby izakaya, yakitori, and yakiniku places. The elevator is quick, so you don’t wait long. A few things bother me: the walls are on the thin side, the toilet seat is small, the free breakfast is basic, and the slippers in the room always feel damp. It’s an ordinary business hotel, neither good nor bad. There’s a Toyoko Inn by the station, but it has a lot of guests, so getting a car in and out takes time, as does check-in. Compared with that, this hotel is much more comfortable.
