Hotel Crystal Palace

We’re here now, staying in one of the extra-large suites for two nights while we explore the area. The beds are good, the place is clean, and there’s air conditioning, an ice machine, and vending machines on every floor. We’re also enjoying the Onsen and Sauna. It’s a beautiful old grand hotel from the Champagne Years, and you can tell it’s past its prime. The staff make you feel very welcome, though, and their English is really helpful. The breakfast was excellent, the price was extremely reasonable, and guests can borrow bicycles for free. It’s an elegant-looking, well-furnished hotel near the station, in a residential area that doesn’t have much else going on. The communal bath on the second floor was decent too.

The family rooms are wonderfully spacious, the facilities are very complete, and the staff are eager to help. The rates are unbelievable. If you’re anywhere near Mito, this place is a hidden gem and easy to recommend.

I was here for training, and this was my first stay. My single room on the 7th floor was okay, a bit better than a regular business hotel, but not really ahead of others around the same size. Maybe the better rooms are different.
