Toyoko Inn Osaka Namba

The best part is the location, with the metro right in front and Dotonbori nearby. The rooms are spacious even in the economy category, with enough room to open a 24-inch suitcase. You can store your luggage yourself from before check-in until midnight on checkout day. Breakfast is free, Japanese-style, and good, with a very good croissant too. Hot and cold drinks are available free until midnight, and ice and water around the clock. Amenities are at reception, and the coin laundry is paid. Most of the staff were very nice and helpful.

Our family room was huge, comfortable, and pretty clean, with two bathrooms so we didn't have to fight over the toilets. The hotel follows a sustainability practice, so rooms are cleaned only on the fourth day of a stay. There are amenities if you need them, and I liked the free drinks. It was a simple gesture, but my kids loved it. Japanese hospitality can be very thoughtful. Convenience stores are nearby, eateries are everywhere, and Dotonbori is a five-minute walk away. The hotel is in a very convenient part of Namba. To find it, I found it easier to come up to street level from the underground exits. We used exit 13 at Namba Midosuji Building, and the hotel is just across the road.

I enjoyed my time at this Osaka hotel more than any of my stays in Tokyo or Kyoto. The value for what I paid was impressive, especially given the great location. Breakfast was included, the service was amazing, and the room was cleaned daily with fresh towels each day.

We had a great overnight stay. Check-in and checkout were automated and seamless, and the friendly staff spoke English. The hotel offered everything we needed, including luggage transfer and locker storage, a quick breakfast, and water bottle refills. We were on the top floor. The bed was good and the duvet plush. Nearby, there are back-lane bars, superb ramen, plenty of affordable local food, and convenience stores.
