Dinner was superb, with local specialties, and the rooms were beautifully styled and comfortable. The lady of the house even arranged a kimono dressing lesson for us with her friend, a teacher. Together with her energetic son, she gave us an unforgettable stay at this wonderful ryokan. After the heavy typhoon a few years ago nearly destroyed it, the ryokan has finally reopened. It dates from the Meiji period and was founded in 1907. The old parts that were saved have been lovingly worked into the fully restored property. We're touring Kyushu's onsen ryokans, and this visit was definitely one of our highlights.

The food was some of the best I've had in Japan, and the family's attention to detail shows in all the thoughtful little touches. Yoshino is my favorite of the nine top ryokans I've visited recently. If you appreciate quality, you'll love this family-run guesthouse and its traditional Japanese hospitality. The historic building was recently renovated, so all the amenities are brand new. There are three private onsens and one larger shared bath, and the water is hotter than usual, which I really like. Thank you, Taeko Taguchi, Mayumi Taguchi, and staff for such an unforgettable stay.

The family running this ryokan made me feel so welcome and really wanted my stay to be just right. After I checked out, they even checked on me at the train station to make sure I boarded the right train. The room I'd booked had its own private onsen, and the hotel's shared onsen was outstanding too. Service, food, baths and rooms all exceeded my expectations. I had an amazing time and can't wait to come back. Highly recommend!

A lovely mix of bathing options, with small private baths and a charming public one in addition to the private bath in most rooms. The staff were very friendly, the food was great, and the rooms were large and comfortable, with modern equipment behind a properly antique look. An amazing place, highly recommended.

I came to Japan hoping to see a typical Japanese scene, and this ryokan was just what I was looking for. Beautiful place, amazing rooms, a nice sento and wonderful service.
