The couple have a nice way of giving you space, and as a solo traveler I felt comfortable without being fussed over. Their little bits of conversation, and the occasional lively back-and-forth between them, showed how close they are and warmed me up. The inn isn’t flashy, but it’s clean and relaxing. It’s old, and keeping it in this condition must take real care. I came for the food, and the dinner was the highlight. The spare ribs were cooked so carefully that I could tell as soon as I pressed my fork into them. They were incredibly tender, with a strong but not heavy flavor. The vegetables alongside were deliberately mild, so they tasted just right with the meat. It was both delicate and bold, and even the bit I thought was cartilage was soft enough to eat. It went beyond what I expected from spare ribs. Breakfast was just as thoughtful, with the touch of someone who knows homemade cooking. It was my first stay, and “exceeded expectations” doesn’t quite cover it. I’d choose this inn again if I came to Kiyosato for the food. I especially recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet stay and a leisurely meal.

Mornings brought adorable homemade bread, and Kogure-chan the cat was adorable too. Meme-san and Momo-san welcomed me with warm hospitality. The food was carefully made and delicious, and went nicely with alcohol. I was delighted by the great selection of house wine. The pork vindaloo curry was especially good, with a deep, rich flavor that still wasn’t heavy. Dinner began with a stylish, tasty appetizer that worked beautifully with both beer and wine. ♡

We spent three days and two nights here after arranging the stay at short notice, just a week ahead. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. I picked the inn because it was reasonably priced compared with other places near Sun Meadows Kiyosato Ski Resort, and because they offer a shuttle between the resort and the inn. Since we didn't have a car and had to depend on public transport, that ride was a huge help. Thank you!

The owners even helped us with a last-minute ride, which came in handy. I was surprised to find they serve curry and craft beer, and there are cute cats around too. The art, music, and furnishings all have a lovely, relaxing feel. Such a welcoming inn.
