The hotel's location was convenient, but the building seemed poorly maintained. Old hotels can still be looked after well, and this one didn't feel that way to us. We were also uneasy about hygiene in the breakfast restaurant. We saw a cockroach in the dining area during breakfast and told a staff member. She removed it with a towel, and another staff member came over shortly after to clean the spot. The bigger concern for us was the restaurant's general cleanliness. It looked unclean overall, and some of the equipment seemed neglected and not properly cleaned.

We had a good, affordable stay for a short visit and would stay again when we come to Hyuga. Check-in was quick and easy, handled professionally by an experienced male clerk. The room was adequate for two small people. Parking is across from the hotel, and it wasn't busy during our stay in May this year. There's a seafood restaurant nearby, so dinner didn't require going far. Breakfast was adequate, and the restaurant staff were efficient, friendly, and proactive.

There aren't many places to stay in Hyuga, and this is a decent local option for the price. It has the decor and smell of an older Japanese business hotel, but everything was clean and the staff were prompt and polite. My main gripe was the hard beds.
