I went with this place because of the price, but I should have paid a bit more to stay somewhere else. I won't be back. The floors in both the room and dining area were dirty, and the tatami sank underfoot. I started itching. I couldn't tell what food was local or regional, and the shellfish was dry and unappealing. It gave me the impression of cheap supermarket seafood, maybe frozen. There was no explanation of the food or drink options, no one asked what I wanted, and there wasn't even a drink menu on the table. The walk to the public bath felt creepy. The lights come on automatically, but I can imagine it being unpleasant for kids or anyone who dislikes horror. The parking setup was confusing, with no clear white lines to show where to park, and there was a step near the entrance and exit of the rear lot.

251003 I stayed with my wife. Like others have said, the inn is run by an elderly landlady and has no sense of cleanliness at all. There were several bugs in the bathtub, and just walking around the room left a fine layer of dust on my phone screen. Price: 7/10. Service: 5/10. Cleanliness: 0/10.

The room charged us a bath fee for all four of us when we checked out, although only my father had used the bath. I suppose that's understandable, but paying that on top of the room cost felt awful for such a terrible stay. I booked at the last minute because we had nowhere else to go. The food looked all right, but the building was so unhygienic that I lost my appetite and skipped both dinner and breakfast. The smell hit me as soon as I walked in. There was so much hair in the bathroom and toilet that I wondered if they'd been cleaned at all. I was so upset about staying there that I cried. My father suggested changing hotels, but I thought it would be a waste. The first-floor toilet was too creepy for me to use. Based on the other reviews, the bath sounded awful too, so we skipped it apart from my father. I wouldn't recommend staying here. Maybe it suits people who don't care about cleanliness.

The meals were the best part for me. They call the food creative, but it isn't gimmicky: the classic Japanese and Western dishes were properly seasoned and showed a real feel for cooking. The building is old, though it didn't look as dark or intimidating as the advance information had led me to expect. That age can be part of its character. Cleanliness could be better, especially in the areas where people walk in shoes. It wasn't unsanitary, just seemed like those parts weren't being cleaned, which is a shame. Also, when there aren't many guests, please don't put people in rooms next to each other. I could hear the neighboring conversation.

The meals were tasty and carefully seasoned, and I still ate all the rice even though I felt like I might burst. I also found hair, and there were about two caterpillar-like insects on the vegetable plate. I tried to tell myself that bugs might mean the vegetables hadn't been heavily sprayed, but they really needed a better wash. My appetite disappeared, even though I tried not to look. For the price with meals included, I understand there are cost limits, but a little renovation would make the place feel cleaner. The woman who runs it was lovely, but the building was more run-down than I expected. I'm somewhat germ-conscious, and there were a lot of things that bothered me. The women's bathroom especially felt unclean, old, dim, and frightening; the wallpaper was peeling in several places. The entrance was dark too, and I felt uneasy going out at night. The rooms are old but decent. I wanted to share this for people considering a stay, because I wish I'd known.
