Ryokan Hayamizuso

Meals made with local products were delicious, and the people were kind and very welcoming. The nature is beautiful, too. If you want a taste of Kyushu's simple, traditional country lifestyle, this is a wonderful place to experience it. Highly recommended.

A cozy, beautiful hotel with a traditional feel, and I enjoyed the hot spring.

I came for a weekday day trip in February 2026, and even in a short visit I left feeling refreshed, physically and mentally. The changing rooms were clean, and day-use bathing is available from 3:00 PM for 300 yen. They also seem to serve lunch on some weekdays, so check their Instagram for details. The historic building has a charming feel and a calming atmosphere. The hot spring water was especially impressive: it contains 158.4 mg/kg of metasilicic acid and feels slightly viscous, leaving my skin very moisturized after bathing. It really does feel like a “beauty spring,” and I can see why locals love it. The water comes from Hishikari Mine, where gold mining is still active, and people say it brings good fortune.

The welcome drink was homemade plum wine, and it was delicious. ✨ Dinner portions were surprising, lol, and the food was so good that I overate and drank too much, then had a stomach ache the next day. Take care not to overdo it. It’s a historic inn, so there’s some wear and tear, and it can get chilly at night. We stayed with our pets in the hearth room. It was spacious and had a hot spring, so 20,000 yen per person felt far too cheap. The hot spring was fantastic, and I was happy to get a souvenir. I’d love to stay again...✨
