The owner was welcoming and kind, and the place was very clean. There's a small luggage shed if you arrive before check-in, and Ujiyamada Station is less than a 10-minute walk away.

There are some pretty good places to eat nearby. We had a room to ourselves, which worked well for four adults, and the bed was roomy. It's a guesthouse, so the facilities are shared and it's best to keep noise down in your room. Comfortable stay.

The bunk was roomy, with a little reading light, a privacy curtain, and a small locker for valuables. Showers are on the first floor, while the comfort rooms are on both the first and second floors. The lounge has surprisingly Western-style interiors, which I liked. Staff welcomed me warmly, and Ujiyamada Station is an easy walk away. Felt like a home away from home in Mie, and a decent place to stay.

Getting to the guesthouse from the train station is the main hassle, so you may want to call or book a taxi. Once there, getting around is easier with the available bike rentals. It's a recently opened place with tatami rooms as well as bunks, with four guests to a room. There are two shared private showers and two shared toilets, plus a kitchen that's better than most Airbnbs and decent Wi-Fi.
