Oishiya

The dinner was another level. A lot of kaiseki I've had looks beautiful but doesn't taste that great, whereas here I loved the meal. The abalone is a must order, though I wouldn't recommend the steak. The staff were so friendly and helpful that I almost felt embarrassed by how well they treated me. I also liked the free private onsen, which is first come, first served. I'd rather have that arrangement than book a slot and be limited to a time. The website didn't impress me, so I was unsure about booking, but I'm glad I gave this place a try. Having stayed in quite a few hotels and ryokans in Japan, I'd rank this among the better ones for its hospitality. I'd recommend it to friends going to Mie. Six out of five stars! The only drawback is there's no parking right in front or beside the ryokan, but the staff even helped carry our luggage up and down, so it wasn't a deal breaker.

We stayed with six family members in a tatami room on the second floor. The view was partly blocked by trees. Both dinner and breakfast were very good, and we all ate together in one large room. The spiny lobster miso soup at breakfast felt like a real treat. It's a quiet ryokan right by the water, with Meoto Iwa and Futamiokitama Shrine within walking distance. I'd stay again if we visit Toba.

This lovely, family-run ryokan is almost right beside the wedded rocks, and you can feel how much the family cares about it. We had a wonderful night, with a fantastic kaiseki dinner and traditional breakfast. The onsen was nice, and the rooms were spotless. Staff speak English, which made everything easy for us to understand. We recommend the traditional room. Sleeping on tatami and futon is good for your back anyway.

The staff were lovely and looked after us from the moment we drove into the parking lot. Our third-floor room had been newly refurbished and was comfortable and clean. Dinner and breakfast were both delicious, and we had no complaints at all. Meoto Iwa is right in front of the inn, so visiting was very convenient. It was an excellent stay.
