Kageyu

We had such a good stay at this lovely, affordable Ryokan. The owner was warm, generous, and welcoming. He spent quite a while explaining the hiking trails to me, then gave me medicine for my knee, which I'd hurt while hiking.

Our family of five stayed here on a pilgrimage to Mt. Oyama. The food was the best part: lots of tofu dishes, all delicious, served on lovely tableware. We especially liked the okara quiche and Yamato steamed tofu, and my family couldn't stop praising the meals. The inn was bright, clean, and comfortable all around, from the guest rooms to the hallways, toilets, and bath areas. The staff were attentive and their hospitality, together with all that good food, really soothed us. We'd definitely like to return.

The room was spacious, with two connected rooms, and there was plenty of parking behind the building. We were only four bus stops from near the cable car station, and they drove us there. Perhaps because there were only two groups staying, we had our own bathroom and toilet. Everything was great. The meals were vegetarian and mainly tofu-based, with each dish carefully prepared. We also ordered venison as an extra, and it was delicious.

What a lovely inn, with a grand gate, roomy spaces, delicious meals, and wonderful hospitality. Snow kept us from reaching the observation deck on Mt. Oyama, and the Acala statue wasn't open to visitors on our day there. Next time, we'll check things in advance and hope to return with Kageyu's help.
