Hotel Villa Fontaine Village Izukogen

Naomi's massage was a highlight. She was amazing and so friendly, and I'd come back just to have another one from her. The room was huge and comfortable, with two bedrooms, a futon room, one and a half bathrooms, and a kitchen area. Almost every room had air conditioning, and even the bathroom had a great view. We came mainly for the hot springs, though the place felt more like a summer resort for longer stays in the warmer months. Our room's view was beautiful, but in winter the strong wind made the windows shake, which disturbed the otherwise peaceful atmosphere. We weren't keen on dinner or breakfast. Both were buffet-style and just okay for the price, which was disappointing.

The onsen was fabulous, and we had a wonderful time. The shuttle from the station runs only a few times a day at set times, so if you miss it, you have to take a taxi. I wish getting to the hotel by shuttle were more convenient. 😍

We stayed three days in September and got an amazing room, about eight times bigger than the hotels in Toyko that cost more. They even had little dog outfits you could rent, which blew me away. The food was excellent too. I'd love to stay again.

The decks have fabulous views, and sitting outside is great. The food is quite good, and the staff are professional and friendly. It's dog friendly, with a nice Onsen, though it costs more than a regular hotel. In our room, two double beds were squeezed into a small space, and the stairs carpet badly needs cleaning. The outside waterfall pools are very discolored, and the indoor pools and hottub don't open until 1pm, really. The room kitchens have very little equipment. There's only one red wine on the menu, and it was chilled. The restaurant could have a great view if they opened the translucent curtains and used short blinds outside to block the sun. With a few small improvements, this could be a great place.
