The cottage was nice, spacious, and clean for a one-night stay, and the facilities were okay. The onsen was basic, with two temperatures, hot and scalding hot. That's fine for some onsens, so it's really a matter of preference. The lower rating is because the service felt rude and clearly unfriendly toward foreigners. When they saw our foreign resident cards, one woman at the counter gave us the cold shoulder and refused to help. A nice older man stepped in instead and was actually quite kind. On checkout day, we met two American women who had been refused shuttle rides to the station, even though the website said everyone staying on the premises could use the service. They only got rides after we spoke to the staff in Japanese. The rooms were nice, but if you're a foreigner, I'd suggest staying elsewhere.

The onsen was great, with an outdoor view, and we could watch squirrels eating while having breakfast. The place is beautiful and away from traffic, with a spacious room. Breakfast was an excellent buffet, and dinner was filling and sumptuous.

The room, food, and facilities were good, but the strict meal times were inconvenient for me and my husband. We'd come a long way by bike and had to rush for food. Otherwise, we'd have had to leave the resort and travel 4kms to the next place to eat.

The forest around this place feels wonderfully thick and secluded. It was a great spot to step away from Tokyo's crowds for a while.
