Our little Japanese-style house was clean, cozy, and ready for us, with its own bathroom, which can be hard to find in this area. The staff were helpful, and breakfast was tasty and made at the time we requested. Since the place sits in nature, don't be surprised if a few small creatures show up. Getting around town without a car takes effort, so expect some walking for whatever you need.

I usually stay at Opa Resort when I come to Shizuoka for scuba diving. I really enjoy the hot spring there, and the owner is kind. It's a very comfortable place.

We loved waking up to the view of nature from the balcony. Our room was beautiful and traditional in style, and breakfast was fresh and delicious each morning. The owners were warm and happy to answer questions or suggest places to go. Don't skip the outdoor bath, it was such a relaxing treat. A perfect little escape in a lovely spot.

You do have to walk at least 20 minutes to reach shops or restaurants, since there's not much nearby. During my stay, though, the owner kindly drove me where I wanted to go and picked me up at the agreed time. He also gives diving lessons. The place itself is beautiful, and he was friendly and spoke some English. My single room was small but cozy, with enough space to open my big suitcase and sort through my things.

For what we got, the location was bad and the room was terrible. It wasn't especially clean either, and heavy dirt was easy to find. Calling it a hostel or bare house would make more sense than calling it a resort.
