A hidden gem in Iwamizawa, with a full-course French dinner. The lodge amenities were satisfying too, especially the free ice cream!

A peaceful log building with a lovely atmosphere, helpful staff, and an onsen popular with locals. I've never stayed somewhere that handed out so many freebies, from hot eye masks and earbuds to lots of different shampoos.

The rooms are lovely, and the food was at a level I'd expect to pay 10,000 yen for in Tokyo. We came with a toddler and a newborn, and the staff made everything easy for us without us even having to ask. The service was fantastic and felt sincere. I don't usually recommend places, but this one gets five stars from me.

I only visited the onsen, and the design is beautiful. Tucked into the mountains around Iwamizawa, it's well worth a visit. The menu looked tempting, and the hotel itself looks phenomenal. I can't wait to stay there. I'll be back!

The dinner at the restaurant was delicious, and the hotel's service was superb. It's an hour's drive from New Chitose airport. I'd stay just for the meal.
