The rooftop Yakiniku beer bar has an all-you-can-drink option with dinner for about 4000y, and the hotel restaurants were great too. I had shubu shabu with their own made soup and handmade ramen, plus a really good breakfast. There’s a 711 right next door, plenty of restaurants nearby, and the bus station is close. You can get an all-day city bus ticket for 500y. The Shinkansen station is only a few minutes’ walk away. I stayed two nights and would come back.

The free breakfast was a real bright spot, especially the Keihan, which was very tasty. I’m giving three stars for that. We made a booking mistake and ended up paying more than the online price. The rooms are spacious but very old, and sleeping there was uncomfortable. The toilet seats were ice cold and the bathtub was nasty. As a first visit to Kagoshima, the hotel itself made for a pretty poor experience. ☹️ 🐓

The room was clean and the staff were courteous, but it was noisy. We were near the lift, so people coming and going seemed to pass right by our door. The beer garden opposite added to the disturbance. The view was cool, though. The shower was just okay, and it was hard to wash my hair thoroughly.
