I paid 120,000 JPY for a two-night booking, then came down with a sudden cold and a 38.5°C fever. I contacted the hotel ahead of time to explain that I was sick, coughing, and unable to travel, and asked to cancel. They refused and showed no understanding. I had no other choice but to make the trip while feverish. At check-in, the front desk staff were cold and didn’t even greet us or show concern for how I was feeling. Our room was far away, so we had to drive around the property to reach it. Inside, it was shockingly basic: a cheap plain white IKEA-style cabinet, no television, no full-length mirror, and no private bathroom. The shared public toilet was outside and freezing in winter, which was unbearable when I was already ill. The water was icy, almost frozen, and the outdoor sink had frozen over. The hand soap and detergent were frozen solid and unusable. Customer service gave robotic replies whenever I reached out, without real thought or effort to help. At checkout, staff abruptly told us to leave while I was still eating breakfast, with no flexibility or basic courtesy. This was the worst hotel experience of my life. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. It felt cold and focused on money, with no regard for guests’ comfort or health.

I booked the SUP and tent sauna package for two adults and one child a couple of months ahead, mainly because this glamping place offered activities by the river. A week before our stay, I got an email saying my child would need to pay an extra fee to join. Otherwise, she couldn’t enter the river, even just to play. I thought the activity was included for all three of us, so it was confusing to learn the package covered accommodation and food but not the activity. I agreed to pay, since I wasn’t going to leave my child alone while we did it, but the fee should have been made clear when booking. Then at 10:30 a.m. on the day of our stay, another email said the activity was cancelled because of the river conditions. We were disappointed, as that activity was why I chose the facility. My Japanese isn’t good, so I asked a friend to call and request cancellation due to the unexpected change. The request was denied. We arrived a few minutes before 3 p.m., but were told to put our names on a waiting list and wait outside in the sun. Check-in began around 3:05. I again explained how disappointed I was and asked for a discount since they wouldn’t let us cancel. They said no. I understand the activity had to stop for reasons beyond anyone’s control, but some kind of service recovery would have helped, perhaps a gift shop voucher or one complimentary use of the private bath. A couple of glow sticks or hanabi would have been an easy gesture too, especially since reception sells glow sticks for more than double the price at Daiso. The trailer we stayed in was dusty around the doors, windows, and corners. Flying insects around the inside of the bunk beds made sleeping there traumatic, and the curtains need washing. I chose a trailer because it was the only option with an attached toilet and shower, but the shower hose was fixed to the wall, so I couldn’t take it down to wash my child. I ended up booking the private bath. It looked clean at first, but while I was showering I saw a cockroach on the glass door and got out quickly. Then I found a spider on the towel. I know it’s nature, but I couldn’t enjoy the bath. Please put electronic insect repellent in the changing area. If you like bread, the meals may suit you: each person gets half a French baguette for dinner and breakfast. Everything besides the bread came in small portions, and there was no dessert. The price felt too high for what we got. Don’t expect Omotenashi here, it felt like they charge for everything. I was also amused to see that you could trade a Google review for a souvenir mug at the front desk. I booked after reading all the good reviews, but is that how they get them? Keep the mugs, we don’t need one. I’ve stayed at another glamping facility in yamanakako for the same price, where we had a dome tent with a huge attached private bathroom, a view of Mt Fuji, and so much food, including meat, seafood, vegetables, and dessert, that we couldn’t finish it. Ufufu, you can do better!

The food was really good, and the sleeping setup was comfortable. We had a pleasant weekend leisure camping at Ufufu Village. I did wish the service had been clearer about what to do with our used dinner dishes. I washed them to use the next day, but it seemed that wasn’t necessary.

A comfortable spot with a spotless environment. The tent and toilet are both very scalable. If you’re thinking about clamping, this is a good choice.

The tent was super comfortable, with Wi-Fi and a fridge, and we had a wonderful weekend getaway in Izu. Getting there by train and taxi, or by bus, was easy. The food was very good. At 5 p.m. you pick up a grilling basket, and you might want to bring marinade for the chicken and steak. The breakfast basket is ready at 7. Bathing is public, though a private bath is available by reservation.
