Tabist Izumi Yusen Shukuhaku Center

It was about 15 years ago, so my memory’s pretty hazy. I seem to remember a semi-basement outdoor bath that looked out over the sea, almost right on the water. I remember being really moved by it. Or did I actually stay at the business hotel next door, Eri? Wait, did I stay at Eri and come here for the bath? Owner, you had an outdoor bath like that, right?

I’m here on a business trip now. The building is old, but the renovated interior looks really nice, and the rooms are spacious enough that I think a longer work stay would be comfortable. The man at the front desk is very kind and gives excellent service. A large public bath is due to open in March, so I’ll definitely stay again next time I’m in Kagoshima.

It feels a bit pricey when you can’t use the large public bath and breakfast is only available with a breakfast plan. If you’re lucky, your room will face the ocean. But when there are lots of students and families, it can get very noisy. They do provide ice, but it comes in a plastic bag, which is a real shame.

I’m here for an extended business trip, and the rooms are much bigger than at regular business hotels. There’s also laundry on site, so the place feels homely and easy to live in. Food matters most to me. I’m vegetarian, specifically pescatarian, and they’ve been able to accommodate that. They bring meals to my room and adjust the timing to suit me. The food is delicious, and I look forward to it every day. I’m grateful they’ve handled my requests so kindly.
