Rurikoh

We came as a group of four over Christmas and had a really fun time. The public bath and private baths were both great, and they provide yukatas to lounge around in. There were very few other guests while we were there. The ryokan was spacious and clean, our room was roomy, and the food was good. There was even a drum show at 9pm.

We were really impressed with the food. Everything was fresh and delicious, and the care that went into putting it together almost made you hesitate to disturb it. The large onsen baths were another highlight, with relaxing indoor and outdoor areas, good water, and access through the night. Our Western-style suite was huge and came with a massage chair as well as a big Japanese-style sitting area. The lobby felt grand without being noisy, and looked out onto a lovely Japanese garden. There’s also a nearby restaurant and drinks area for coffee, juice, and soft drinks, available 24 hours, which I haven’t seen at many other places. We arrived by rental car on a damp afternoon and were greeted warmly by the very dapper staff. Had a wonderful stay and would love to come back soon.

The restaurant served delicious food made with local ingredients. We had a great stay, with a wonderful hot spring and friendly, professional staff.

The hotel itself was beautiful, though the room felt a little small for what it cost. Make sure to enjoy the amenities they provide so you get more out of the stay.
