JR KYUSHU HOTEL Kagoshima

Having lockers for luggage was a useful extra, and the staff were friendly and easy to communicate with throughout my stay. My room was clean and comfortable, with a spacious bathroom and a lovely view of trains passing by. I was surprised by how quiet and relaxing it was. Kagoshima JR Hotel is right beside the station, which made getting around and sightseeing very convenient. I’d happily recommend it to anyone visiting Kagoshima.

The rooms are standard Japanese business hotel size, and everything felt adequate for that category. The big draw is how easy it is to get around: the main station fare gates are about a 30-second walk away, and the buildings attached to Kagoshimachuo have food, shops, and convenient access for local trips. There’s also a convenience store on the first floor, just outside the elevator lobby entrance. We had no noise issues. Our room faced away from the trains, and we couldn’t hear them coming or going.

The breakfast was a highlight, with a good range of Japanese dishes, including pork shabu shabu. The hotel connects directly to Kagoshima Station, so transport is easy, and the room felt large by Japanese hotel standards. I liked having the toilet and bathroom separate, along with a distinct bathing area and bathtub. There was no in-room safe, which was disappointing, though the front desk offered a safe deposit box. The bathrobe could be updated too, as a separate top and long pants would be more comfortable than one robe. Staff could also be more patient and helpful when handling several restaurant reservation requests.

The bedding could use some attention, especially the pillows and towel quality. Apart from that, I really enjoyed my seven nights here and would gladly return. The location made it easy to reach sightseeing spots, shopping, and places to eat. Room service was excellent and environmentally conscious, which I appreciated.
