The room was so tight there was barely space to turn a chair, and I had to stack my things against the wall. I also found it odd that guests have to hand in their room key whenever they leave. Staff seemed unaware of my booking, even though I’d made it weeks earlier, but they were pleasant once they tracked it down. The location saved this for me: handy for the Sakurajima ferry and the city’s bars and restaurants.

It’s got all the equipment you need. The internet is a little slow, and you have to run the AC and fan for a while to clear out the lingering smell.

The location worked well, close to Tenmonkan, but there was quite a bit of noise from the corridor and the neighboring rooms. Only smoking rooms were available, so mine smelled like cigarettes.

The room was inexpensive, but old and cramped. Its air conditioner was covered in mold, and the Wi-Fi was extremely weak. The downtown location is good, but that doesn’t make up for the mold or the way the short-haired male staff member behaved at check-in. A female employee was helping me, while he stood beside her acting arrogant and unpleasant. Maybe he was unhappy with her service, but he shouldn’t have taken it out on a guest. The poor customer service and moldy AC were unacceptable, even at this price.
