Yusho

The grilled crab, crab sashimi, and crab rice porridge were all so good. I’m planning to come back every year.

The food is what this inn takes pride in, and the breakfast was just the right amount, with delicious crab miso soup. For dinner I chose the Sazanami course and was completely full. This was my second stay, and the crab was delicious again. I had most of mine grilled because I like it that way, and the rest was made into crab chili. At other hotels I’ve found the crab for grilling and the crab for hot pot can vary in quality, sometimes not tasting very good. At Wakusho it was the same good quality, even though I had more grilled and less hot pot crab. The bath is small, but there’s an open-air bath, and you can bathe any time, day or night. We had elderly people with us, and stairs were a challenge, so we booked a first-floor room. Everyone was kind, and we were very satisfied with our stay.

It’s a quiet little inn in a fishing village, without the artificial development you find in Kinosaki, so it’s easy to relax here. The rooms were beautifully maintained, and the soft, lovely water at Satsu Onsen was new to me. I’ve taken winter crab trips to Kinosaki, Misasa, and Amanohashidate, but this was the best crab place of them all. I’ve never been served so much crab, and it was delicious. I’d like to find a chance to come back.

We came for a day trip and had the crab course. Everything was delicious, and the grilled crab arrived at the table perfectly cooked.
