Yunoyado Yurakutei

The cats kept following me to my room and didn't want to leave, so we ended up spending the night with them. Cat food and a litter box were provided, though getting to do that was a special treat by chance. I loved the place, and it became the most memorable part of my trip to Kumamoto. There's an interesting cave bath, the seafood is authentic, and the staff are friendly too.

I only came for a morning onsen visit on a weekday. There were just four of us, me and three other women. The cat greeted us at the front entrance. I tried the different baths and sat in the middle of the cave bath, where there was less gravel. A relaxing, enjoyable visit.

The onsen was okay, but the walls are so thin. The couple next door murmured and chatted all night. It was really annoying.

The cat from Yurakutei came along with us when we sat on the moonlit beach, where my girlfriend said yes to my proposal. We'd visited Yurakutei the previous September. It's a small onsen with a lovely, unusual atmosphere, and the staff were friendly. We had thought we could order dinner, but it was only for hotel guests, so they gave us some leftovers from dinner instead.
