Tsurugi Koizuki

I found this a very good inn. Every staff member had a genuine spirit of hospitality, which to me is the essence of a Japanese inn.

We were grateful to the staff at Tsurugi Koizuki for making the first day of our honeymoon such a wonderful start. We'll treasure the flowers and handmade message card they gave us and display them proudly. It was a lovely stay, and one we'll remember fondly. The warmth of the staff stood out, from every person we met. Their welcome went beyond what a manual could teach. For our wedding anniversary, they thoughtfully arranged a room upgrade, a bouquet, a handmade card, a private dining room for dinner, and complimentary white shrimp tempura. The sashimi was fresh and beautifully presented, a taste of Toyama. The white shrimp tempura was wonderfully crisp, and breakfast's kelp-cured fish and boiled eggplant were exquisite. Both meals showed care in every dish. Our second-floor room had an open-air bath facing the Tateyama mountain range, including Mt. Tsurugi, Mt. Dainichi, and Mt. Yakushi. Soaking in the bath with that magnificent view was exceptional. We look forward to seeing the view from the fourth floor next time. The inn is around 30 minutes from the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, Kurobe Gorge Railway, and Toyama Station, making it a flexible base for sightseeing. The exterior feels a little old, but the spacious lobby quickly made me forget that. There's also a free ping-pong table for families.
