Kamiizumi

The mountain setting makes getting there a little tricky, since it's close to the top. Still, it seems like a nice place to stay, with amazing food and a mesmerizing view.

The wood throughout the interior gives the place a warm, relaxing feel, and with no TVs in the rooms, it was easy to unwind. I stayed in a room with an open-air balcony and loved the view. The open-air bath doesn't have a shower, so you can only soak there, but I still enjoyed it. There's a bath in the room where you can shower. I didn't eat at the inn, though meals seem to be served in the roomy first-floor dining area. The convenience store is a bit far, so buy groceries before you arrive.

I was there for lunch as part of a tour, without staying overnight. The food was delicious and came in generous portions. The dashi shabu-shabu was especially good, though the sakura soba was a little soggy. Even with our big tour group, the staff paid attention to the tables and kindly cleared plates to make more room. It's out in the countryside, but it's a three-star hotel, and I'd like to come back for a personal stay. Thank you!

We had a very satisfying family stay. The staff were warm and courteous, and the price felt like great value. Dinner's pork shabu-shabu was delicious, and they prepared plates for the kids. There's also an indoor kids' space, which made staying with children feel safe. Surrounded by nature, it stayed cool and comfortable even in summer. It was a wonderful inn, and we'd definitely like to visit again next year.
