Hotel Charmant Nachi-Katsuura

The town is worth exploring. We rented bikes from the information center at the station and rode along the coast. The tuna auction was fascinating. Book a tour to get the most out of it, as we did with Stella Local, and the restaurants we tried served delicious food, especially the tuna. After walking the Kumano Kodo, we found the rooms comfortable. The staff were the real standout. We decided late to send our luggage ahead, and a young man went out of his way to arrange it. When we left without our change, he even chased us to the station on his bicycle to return it.

JR station is just a minute away, so getting around is easy, and there are loads of restaurants nearby. The staff were amazing and went above and beyond with recommendations and anything else we needed. Our room was clean and pleasant, and the bathroom looked recently renovated and was very nice. A top place to stay in Katsuura.

The staff were very accommodating, and our room was lovely. Breakfast was simple but satisfying. I would’ve asked for more toast and coffee, both free, but we were in a hurry and I didn’t get the chance. They also serve complimentary sweet red bean soup, which was delicious. Hotel Charmont is beside a shop that sells oranges. Don’t make our mistake and forget to buy some. They’re the best!

The guesthouse owner was very friendly, recommended dinner spots, and served a good breakfast. There was free dessert every day at 18:00, which we enjoyed. The cozy hotel is close to the train and bus stations and the harbor.
