Forest Kamikita

I used the onsen in March 2026. There are indoor and outdoor pools, and the indoor one is ventilated well enough that it doesn't get stuffy. The front desk staff were friendly and very helpful. One receptionist, whose name I won't share for privacy, speaks perfect English.

The building looks pretty ordinary from outside, but inside it was incredibly clean. I was curious about why they picked this place at first, though there isn't much else to complain about. The large public bath changes on a rotation, so I got to try different baths in the evening and again in the morning. The open-air bath is small, and a screen blocks the view while you're soaking. Since it's on the second floor with mountains all around, I thought it could have been more open, even though the area seems secluded. Maybe it was the off-season, but there weren't many guests, and I was impressed that I got to use the place at a discounted rate.

The inn was easy to spot by the river. Its outside looked a bit dated, but the front desk, rooms, baths, and dining room had all been renovated and were very clean. The staff were attentive and especially kind to older guests. We enjoyed the Yoshino mountains and walked the path along the river. It was hotter than in the city, but the fresh air felt great, and we kept taking deep breaths. The open-air bath was around natural spring temperature, maybe because of the season, and felt perfect after the hot indoor bath. We kept going back and forth between them, lol. My father was recovering from an illness and loved it too. He got some energy back, and it turned into a lovely trip. Great value for the money, and I'd like to come back in winter. Thank you! 😊
