At Bekkan Fujiya Ryokan, the warm, attentive staff made me feel right at home. I could enjoy the onsen without worrying because the baths are tattoo-friendly, and they were relaxing and beautifully maintained. The whole place had a soothing atmosphere, and the experience exceeded my expectations. A great pick for an authentic, relaxing stay in Japan.

The food was simple but tasty, and it was good value for money. We stayed one night with dinner and breakfast included; the room and onsen bathroom were clean, tidy, and comfortable. The staff didn't speak English, but they were very friendly and did their best to help us communicate. We used Google Translate together.

The people keeping this place going are incredibly warm and friendly, unlike anything I've experienced before. The hotel shows its age, but its charm more than makes up for it, and it's hard to judge with stars or numbers. The whole region feels underrated. Kyoto and Tokyo are pretty cool, but I think you'd have the best time here. Be prepared that you may not see any other foreign tourists.
