My wife and I were walking through Korinbo on a cold, rainy Sunday afternoon with hail, and got a bit lost. We spotted this hotel and went inside because its dining area looked like a cafe. It turned out to be the breakfast room. Since there were several sofas in the empty lobby, we sat by the windows for a while. We had no food or drinks, weren't bothering anyone, and were sitting upright. Someone came out from the back, looked at us for a few seconds, then left. After that, a recording in Chinese and English played, saying something about calling the police if we weren't hotel guests. I'm staying at ANA Crown Plaza Hotel on this trip. We visit Kanazawa often, and I was also curious because I hadn't known about this hotel, given its location. Nobody asked if we were waiting for a friend who was staying there. I don't want to turn this into a conversation about racism, but I'd like management to explain which Japanese law we supposedly violated. The general rules I found mention things like disruptive behavior, unauthorized business or sales, pets, and eating or drinking in public spaces. We weren't doing any of those things. You can decide for yourself, but we'll take this hotel off our list. Most people in Kanazawa have been very nice and helpful, and I'd hate for this experience to spoil anyone's trip.

The service really stood out. We accidentally booked our rooms twice, but the staff fixed it as soon as we arrived and refunded us in full without any hassle. Later, after we'd checked out and were already on our way elsewhere, my husband realized he'd left his wedding ring behind. The hotel found two other small things we'd forgotten too, then mailed all of it to the next hotel we were staying at, within three hours of our call. We also paid for breakfast on both days and thought it was well worth it, with a nice range of fresh food presented appealingly. Omicho Market is nearby, and Kanazawa Castle is right across from the hotel. There's a lot to see, so I'd suggest staying at least two nights.

The bathroom was my favorite part: roomy, with a bathtub. The hotel is across from the castle and garden, and the service was really good too. You can walk to the bus stop in about two minutes, then ride straight to Kanazawa station for 210 yen each way, as of when I wrote this.

The man at the hotel restaurant told us there were eight groups ahead of us for lunch and that we'd have a long wait, but I couldn't see anyone waiting. I don't see how lying like that helps the business.

I wouldn't choose this place if good service matters to you. The staff didn't seem professional or friendly to me. They were busy checking their phones and talking.
