The rooms and breakfast are pretty basic, and our room got a bit cold in winter. Rates are reasonable, though, and the Korinbo location is excellent, within walking distance of Kanazawa's major sightseeing spots. A free bus also runs regularly between the station and the hotel.

We skipped the included breakfast after seeing the setting and the food on offer. The room was clean, so it could work for one night before heading out, and the center is three bus stops away. That said, this is a budget hotel and the price difference isn't huge. The bed was very uncomfortable, and we woke with back pain. We couldn't sleep properly because the room was noisy all night: the ventilation above the bed couldn't be turned off, the clock ticked, and the fridge made noise. We could also hear movement in neighboring rooms, in the hall, and outside the window.

We arrived at two, before the 4pm check-in, and they stored our bags while we went to the castle, just two blocks away. The bathroom was small, like one on a ship, but very functional. This was a good budget hotel with friendly staff and quite a few amenities: soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush and toothpaste, plus a razor and nightgown at no charge. We stayed three nights. They brought clean towels and toothbrushes each day, but didn't come into the room or change the sheets. Breakfast each morning was a good traditional Japanese one. Umbrellas were available to borrow, with places around town to return them or pick one up.

It's a short walk to Kenroku-en and Kanazawa Castle, and the inexpensive chain hotel has a great location and free breakfast. The room had its own heat pump or AC and a humidifier, which was a nice touch. The bed is very firm, the shower has some quirks but works, and sound carries through the room, so you hear people walking and talking in the hallway.
