We stayed in the Pine room, which looked out onto a peaceful garden and was nicely styled. The futon mattresses were surprisingly comfortable, better than some regular beds we had on the trip. The staff greeted us with a smile whenever we came or went, and LaLa-chan always cheered us up when we returned. I was uncertain about using the onsen, but there are also two free private showers, fully separate from it, which made me much more comfortable. When it was time to leave, the family offered us a ride to the station for far less than a taxi. It's hard to find anything to fault about our stay.

The futons were very comfortable, and the traditional Japanese room was clean, quiet, and roomy, with a lovely view of the garden. After a long day, relaxing in the onsen was a real treat. It was cold outside in mid-February, around 40F/4.5C, but the room's A/C kept things cozy. Akiko-san and her family made us feel welcome, and their food recommendations were great. Lala-chan at reception was the best receptionist I met on our trip. Thanks again for driving us to the station in the rain. Arigato gozaimasu!

The rooms were immaculate, though these are old buildings, so be careful with them. The garden was still being improved while I was there, but I could see the care going into it and its potential to become a lovely feature. This was my first stay at a ryokan, and it felt just like in the movies. The hostess and the hospitality were remarkable. The staff, especially the English-speaking women, did everything they could to help. Getting there by bus or taxi is easy, and the hostess can arrange a pickup or drop-off. Just be sure to ask.

Staying at a ryokan, a traditional inn, was a great experience, and the accommodation was nice with very kind staff. But in autumn the room was uncomfortably cold even with the heating on. The location also isn't very practical. It's outside the urban area and feels like the middle of nowhere, too far to walk to the city centre, so budget for a bus or taxi. The 24-hour transport pass doesn't cover this area, so save your money.

The owners were among the friendliest people I've ever met at a hotel. They were happy to drive us to and from the station, and had recommendations for nearby spots as well as things to do in town. The ryokan was well kept.
