KUMU Kanazawa by The Share Hotels

What impressed me most was the staff. They were very helpful, on par with much more expensive hotels. Yudai Hiraki went out of his way to find and book us a table for kaisenki dinner, which added a personal touch to our trip. They also lent us umbrellas on rainy days. We really enjoyed staying here and would definitely return to Kanazawa. The modern, zen rooms and shared spaces thoughtfully combine modern and traditional Japanese design. The relaxing evening events and DJ shows were lovely, and the hotel’s drinks were wonderful. The matcha and Kaga tea available in the lobby are a must-try.

Apart from a few design details, like the lobby ceiling, the hotel felt more European than Japanese, and it was hard to find much that reflected Japanese culture. Even the breakfast tea was Ceylon. Still, it’s an ultra-stylish hotel with super-comfortable beds. We chose a moderate loft on the quiet side and slept like babies.

A great, comfortable, modern hotel with friendly staff, and one of the more comfortable stays at this price. There’s a café worth trying, plus washing machines and daily cleaning. The fridge in the room was very small, there was no ice, and there were no USB wall outlets.

We rented bikes from the hotel and covered the whole city in a day and a half, which worked out really well. The hotel itself is modern and pleasant, with roomy, clean rooms and nice design. Breakfast was the one weak spot: it was simple, with limited variety for Western guests.
